Steps to Clean Up Space:

  1. Use Storage Sense:

    • Windows 10 & 11: Go to Settings > System > Storage.
    • Turn on "Storage Sense" which will automatically free up space by getting rid of files you don't need, like temporary files and content in your Recycle Bin.
  2. Disk Cleanup Tool:

    • Windows 10: Search for "Disk Cleanup" in the start menu and select the drive you want to clean.
    • Windows 11: This tool is integrated into Storage Sense.
    • Ensure to check categories like "Temporary Internet Files" and "Thumbnails."
  3. Empty the Recycle Bin:

    • Right-click on the Recycle Bin on the desktop and select "Empty Recycle Bin."
  4. Uninstall Unnecessary Apps:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
    • Uninstall any non-essential applications, especially larger ones you no longer need. Remember to only remove apps you are certain are not needed for company tasks.
  5. Clear Browser Cache:

    • For browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, regularly clear the cache and cookies to free up space.
  6. Move Files to External or Cloud Storage:

    • Consider moving large files or infrequently accessed data to an external hard drive or a company-approved cloud storage solution.
  7. Check Downloads Folder:

    • Periodically review and clean out the "Downloads" folder, deleting files you no longer need.

Precautions:

  • Always backup essential files before deleting anything.

  • Avoid deleting system files or folders to prevent any unintentional damage to your OS.

  • If unsure about what can be safely deleted, consult with the IT department.
